CHERRY EYE 

This is the common term for the prolapsed of a gland behind the third eyelid. It occurs in young puppies, usually around 10 to16 weeks. It looks like a small pea size lump in the inner corner of the eye. 
Remedy 
Minor operation under local anesthetic to remove the gland. Puppy will recovers within hours.
  
 
ENTROPION  
This is the condition which occurs when the eyelids turn in and the lashes irritate the eye, causing considerable discomfort and continuous nasty discharge from the eye which never seems to cure with eye drops or cream. 
Remedy 
Surgery is required.
  
  
CYSTS ( on feet )
This occurs when a lesion appears between the toes and the dog will find it painful to walk. 
Remedy 
Stand the affected foot in a small bucket of warm water added with a teaspoonful of salt for few minutes. This will help to disperse the swelling. 
  
  
WRINKLES & EARS
 
Clean the wrinkles and inside of the ears everyday to prevent bacteria growth.
  
  
HEAT STROKE
All short-nosed breeds known as ‘brachycephalic’must be carefully managed in hot weather. Never walk your bulldog in the heat of the day, or allow children to run and chase him around the garden. The best time to walk your bulldog is early in the morning and late evening. Never leave your bulldog in the garden and car unattended. Signs of heatstroke are: extremely rapid panting, tongue turn blue as he gasps for air and may vomit white froth, which you must clear from his throat to prevent him from choking.  
Remedy 
Spray/ pour cool water all over him, particularly on the neck and tail areas. Submerse him up to the neck in deep water. Keep the surrounding quiet till his breathing pattern comes back to normal.
  
  
PYOMETRA
Occurs occasionally in the older bitches, one or two months after a season. Uterus is filled with pus and thick red-brown foul smelling discharge from the vulva. The bitch in this condition will drink excessively and have a high temperature. 
Remedy 
Consult a veterinary immediately.
  
 
WET ECZEMA  
Most common skin complaint with bulldogs. Caused by dog scratching an itchy flea bite, excessively rich diet or stress and it is usually worse in very hot weather. It is not contagious thus no need for isolation. The quicker you treat it, the more likely you are to control it. 
Remedy 
To treat first symptoms, spray Tea tree oil or apply aloe vera on the red patches of skin.
